Heavenly Peace

Peace.  I love the concept and idea of peace.  In our home it seems like we are often so busy and “FULL” that there is little time for peace.  Having a newborn in the house has forced us to slow down and have peace.  Daisie, Drew and Jake performed in a beautiful EVMCO concert this December entitled Heavenly Peace.  It was perfect.  Through sacred music they captured the essence of the heavenly peace that I see in my little daughter’s eyes.  We know that the world will constantly be filled with wars and calamities, but we can have Heavenly Peace.

“I heard the bells on Christmas Day

Their old familiar carols play.

And wild and sweet the words repeat

Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair I bowed my head:

‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said,

‘For hate is strong and mocks the song

Of peace on earth, good will to men.’

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep;

‘God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;

The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,

With peace on earth, good will to men.”

-Henry W. Longfellow

Taylor’s first official “date dance”-Winter Formal-

In order to keep things simple and still keep Daisie happy, Taylor’s friend, Hannah who we adore, has been coming to our home once a week to teach Daisie ballet.  Daisie was ecstatic to practice in Hannah’s old costumes.

Taylor’s weeknights and Saturdays have been filled with volleyball.

On the side he and Jake have thrown in a little piano here and there…..IMG_5350

IMG_5335 School programs-Daisie wasn’t as hesitant this year and Luke didn’t keep his hat over his eyes this time so we considered both a whopping success.  IMG_5332

Our renters decided they were done with the rotting half pipe in their backyard and Mike and the boys went over and took apart the ramp they had spend so many hours building.  We used the wood to make some wonderful winter fires around which we have had some great family conversations while we have roasted marshmallows in the backyard.

Ms Matthew’s cute class went on a field trip to watch a musical.  Although Daisie looks forward to and talks about the day when she will be homeschooled, I couldn’t be more pleased with her current situation.  If every teacher was like Ms Matthew every child would not only love to learn, but would feel loved.  She is heaven sent.

A day or two after winter formal, Taylor found this on the front porch.  They don’t waste any time here in Gilbert.  We have a lot to learn.
IMG_5279I have missed several class programs, sporting events and recitals this holiday season.  We didn’t put on a holiday party and I sent the kids to see “A Christmas Carol” without me.  Only half of our decorations made it up, we didn’t read boxes of Christmas stories and we didn’t make any treats for our neighbors.  I’m grateful for everyone’s patience with me while I have basked in this short stage with Lily.  It has taken me 6 kids to finally get it right and truly slow down after having a baby.  The result has been Heavenly Peace.
