I was nervous about New York with four kids and no Mike. I wasn’t sure I was up for it. Mike was. I’m grateful for his confidence in me. I parked the van at the Newark airport and we took an Uber to our hotel in the city so I wouldn’t have to deal with parking. We loved the Westin at Grand Central and had fun walking to Trader Joe’s to get supplies and to Pret for dinner. The kids really wanted to be watch Newsies in New York so I indulged them in a few clips before we went to bed. In the morning we headed to the Brooklyn Bridge where we took a private bike tour over the bridge and all around Brooklyn. What fun! We felt like locals! With Lily in tow we interspersed favorite local parks with visiting Federal Hall, Ground Zero and the Oculus. It was a perfect balance. We bought subway cards and took the subway back to Grand Central and then walked the few blocks with all our luggage to our new hotel where we were to meet Grandma Dorothy and the Richardson’s. As we walked up to the door the Richardson’s were just unloading ! What a perfect welcoming committee! We loved going out to dinner with cousins and catching up! So blessed!
