One of my favorite places to visit is the Priesthood Restoration Site in Harmony, Pennsylvania. In this humble location 2/3 of the Book of Mormon was translated, the Aaronic Priesthood was restored, the Melchizedek Priesthood was restored and much of the Doctrine and Covenants was received. There is a special sacred feeling by the Susquehanna River, in the woods, and in the lovely visitor center. The movie is so well done and correlates perfectly with the Whitmer Farm. We were so excited to run into our dear friends, the Fergusons, there. The kids did NOT want to leave and I couldn’t blame them. It felt so peaceful there. For Drew’s birthday I had bought a hot air balloon ride over The Susquehanna. I wanted him to always remember this special river and this sacred site. Unfortunately, rain threatened and we had to reschedule our flight. In a quick shift of plans we raced down to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell. As I admired the bell, I thought of what it stood for and the foundations that were laid here so that the events in Harmony could occur. I was grateful.
We were pretty proud of our storm chasing until the heavens DUMPED upon us right outside the Liberty Bell. With our car several blocks away we were COMPLETELY SOAKED before we reached the van. Laughing uncontrollably, we tried to ring the water out of our clothes to no avail. It is an experience we will long remember!
