BUNGY

This whole clean the house from top to bottom while you try to feed everyone breakfast, make lunch and pack up 8 people in the car by 10a is ROUGH for our family. I think we are better suited for AIRBNB than our occasional BOOKABACHS. We were treated to a rainbow over Lake TeAnau as a parting gift.

Queenstown is the adventure capital of the world. Any crazy adrenaline adventure that you have every wanted to do is available in Queenstown. In addition, it is gorgeous and full of hikes, bike rides and kayak tours. Unfortunately, our time in New Zealand has been quickly fading like the grains of sand in an hourglass and we only had one night to give to Queenstown. This forced us to be very “Choosy” in our activities. Fairly quickly, the boys settled on the Original Bungee Jump at the Kawarau Bridge just outside the city. They decided if they were EVER going to jump then jumping at the sight where bungy jumping was invented seemed appropriate. The wind was blowing above the flowing green river when Mike and the boys ascended the bridge. Both Jake and Mike suffer from a healthy fear of heights and I could see them sweating. Drew was as calm as a summers morning. Tay has been on pins and needles all week with his BYU acceptance or rejection looming tomorrow so his stress level didn’t seem any higher. In fact, he was happy for the distraction. Thankfully, the bungy held, the shoes stayed on and everyone had a great time. Queenstown was good to us.

Lily didn’t want to be left out as the attendants were writing order and weight on the boys hands-

Luke and Daisie wanted a little adrenaline rush of their own so we settled on the luge overlooking the city. After indulging ourselves in some Pedro’s Lamb take out (BEST LAMB WE HAVE EVER HAD!) we took the gondola up the mountain for some Friday evening wholesome recessional activity.

Everyone had so much fun on the luge!  Awesome family adventure overlooking Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu!!

The evening sun was still beaming across the lake so we took a gorgeous detour to Glenorchy with some quick waterfall scrambles on the way.

Picture perfect. Even though I couldn’t imagine eating again we had promised the kids victuals from the famed Fergburger. Not wanting to wait in line for an hour with 6 kids at 9p on a Friday evening we called in our order and took the take out to a park on the lake. The question in all our mind was- Did the food live up to the hype??  The verdict from Taylor, “That was the best burger I have ever had!”  We have been craving FergBurger ever since.

Best Lamb Ever + Best Burger Ever + Dream-of-lifetime-bungy + Luge Rides as a family + Epic Vistas and Views + Dodging the Promised Rain = A Day to Remember. Queenstown was good to us.
